Returning To The Nürburgring

It’s been far too long, but we are again working with clients from the US on plans for Nürburgring tours and vacations. For the latest on travel requirements, check with the US Embassy in Germany.

I’m considering a tour to coincide with the dedication of Sabine Schmitz Curve at the endurance race on September 11. If you are interested, please contact us!

Stay healthy, safe and enthusiastic about our favorite track! Cheers!

Green Hell Guides Tours and COVID-19

Here’s the current situation with Green Hell Guides tours and COVID-19. Green Hell Guides continues to operate to help North American clients achieve the dream of experiencing The Nürburgring to the fullest. Given the current situation we don’t have any tours scheduled at this time. However, we will be looking at potential tours in the summer/fall timeframe. We are also offering self-guided tour services now.

Here’s some information on the current situation. Tours often include VLN races or the N24 race and these have been rescheduled as a result of the pandemic. April 30 public driving did resume. If you can safely reach the Nürburg area, track car rental, hotels and restaurants can accommodate you with social distancing procedures that have been implemented. Here’s a bit more from Dale Lomas at Bridge To Gantry on what the current experience is like.

If you are considering visiting The Nürburgring during this time, but are uncomfortable with an embedded tour guide from Green Hell Guides along, we can offer self-guided tour services. We will consult with you on your itinerary, handle your reservations and provide documentation to guide your tour.

As guide-led tours resume, Green Hell Guides will follow appropriate procedures like masks and social distancing to ensure safe, in-person tours as well. As always, we work with you to customize your tour to meet your needs. This includes any virus response requirements to ensure your safety and comfort.

That’s the latest on Green Hell Guides tours and COVID-19. We at Green Hell Guides hope you and your families are safe and healthy during these times. We look forward to assisting with your Nürburgring-related vacations!

Green Hell Guides Nürburgring Tours Calendar

To make it easier for our clients to schedule tours with Green Hell Guides, we’ve added calendar functionality to the website that shows upcoming VLN races as well as potential tours anchored to these endurance races. The Green Hell Guides Nürburgring tours calendar will show suggested tours as “potential tours” that would include enough time for all of our typical tour activities, but can be customized to meet your individual desires. Tours that are already booked will be shown as “confirmed tours” and will note if spaces are still available to reserve. Private tours will not be shown on the calendar.

Potenial tour dates are based on Green Hell Guides extensive experience planning trips that cover everything The Nürburgring and the surrounding countryside have to offer. We take into account the timing of races, tourist drive days and hours, museum days closed, etc. and offer tours that ensure you get to experience it all.

Everything You Need For Watching the 2018 24 Hours of Nürburgring

I’m getting ready to get on a plane and head over to The Nürburgring for the ADAC/Zurich 24 Hours of Nürburgring. Here’s some information for those that want to play along at home. I call it Everything You Need For Watching the 2018 24 Hours of Nürburgring!

International Livestream
First you have to get the feed from the race. Luckily there has been excellent English language commentary from Radio LeMans on the international stream. I’ve not seen links posted yet, but they typically use YouTube, so searching on “2018 Nürburgring 24” will likely get you the feed your looking for. Links may go up later in the week on The Nürburgring official site and the ADAC/Zurich 24 Hour Race official site (Note that the German site is more frequently updated, so I linked to that but you can click on the flag icon in the upper right corner of the site to switch to English).

Race Start
The race starts Saturday, May 12 at 3:30PM Central European Time which is 6 hours ahead of Eastern Time in the US, so it starts at 9:30AM here on the East Coast. As the name of the race suggests, it will run for 24 hours until 3:30PM Central European Time on Sunday, May 13. Read more

Just Go Watch “7:01” The Documentary About The Private Viper Nürburgring Record Attempt

Like the title says, just go watch “7:01” the documentary about the private Viper Nürburgring record attempt!

If you’re reading this, you need to spend 24 minutes watching this video. Do you like cars? Do you like The Nürburgring? Do you like underdogs? Do you have a pulse? If you answered any of these questions with a “yes”, then you need to watch this video.

The production value is high and some of the shots are simply gorgeous. It’s a great story that gives you a bit more appreciation for the effort required to land a lap record especially when you’re not a big manufacturer like Mercedes, Porsche or BMW.

Dale Lomas from Bridge to Gantry was a big supporter and gets some camera time as well. It’s well worth your time to check this out!
